STEP 0: Pre-Calculation Summary
Formula Used
Overcut in mm per side = (Overcut Constant A*Capacitance in Surface Defect^0.333)+Overcut Constant B
O = (A*Csd^0.333)+B
This formula uses 4 Variables
Variables Used
Overcut in mm per side - Overcut in mm per side is the overcut produced during EDM.
Overcut Constant A - (Measured in Meter) - Overcut Constant A is an empirical constant used in overcut calculations of EDM, its different for different materials at different voltages passing through it.
Capacitance in Surface Defect - (Measured in Farad) - Capacitance in Surface Defect is the ability of a component or circuit to store and collect energy in the form of an electrical charge.
Overcut Constant B - (Measured in Meter) - Overcut Constant B is an empirical constant used to calculate overcut produced in the EDM process its different for different materials at different voltages passing through it.
STEP 1: Convert Input(s) to Base Unit
Overcut Constant A: 1.4 Meter --> 1.4 Meter No Conversion Required
Capacitance in Surface Defect: 5704165.41 Microfarad --> 5.70416541 Farad (Check conversion here)
Overcut Constant B: 2.5 Meter --> 2.5 Meter No Conversion Required
STEP 2: Evaluate Formula
Substituting Input Values in Formula
O = (A*Csd^0.333)+B --> (1.4*5.70416541^0.333)+2.5
Evaluating ... ...
O = 4.99999999933264
STEP 3: Convert Result to Output's Unit
4.99999999933264 --> No Conversion Required
FINAL ANSWER
4.99999999933264 5 <-- Overcut in mm per side

4 Overcut Calculators

Capacitance responsible for given overcut
 Go Capacitance in Surface Defect = ((Overcut in mm per side-Overcut Constant B)/Overcut Constant A)^(1/0.333)
Overcut produced per side
 Go Overcut in mm per side = (Overcut Constant A*Capacitance in Surface Defect^0.333)+Overcut Constant B
Overcut constant A
 Go Overcut Constant A = (Overcut in mm per side-Overcut Constant B)/Capacitance in Surface Defect^0.333
Overcut constant B
 Go Overcut Constant B = Overcut in mm per side-(Overcut Constant A*Capacitance in Surface Defect^0.333)

Overcut produced per side Formula

Overcut in mm per side = (Overcut Constant A*Capacitance in Surface Defect^0.333)+Overcut Constant B
O = (A*Csd^0.333)+B

What factors affects surface finish during EDM ?

The amount of material removed and the surface finish produced is dependent upon the current in the spark. The material removed by the spark can be assumed to be a crater. The amount removed therefore will depend upon the crater depth, which is directly proportional to the current. Thus as the material removed increases and at the same time, the surface finish also decreases. However, decreasing the current in the spark, but increasing its frequency will improve the surface finish in view of the small crater size, but at the same time, the material removal rate can be maintained by increasing the frequency.

How to Calculate Overcut produced per side?

Overcut produced per side calculator uses Overcut in mm per side = (Overcut Constant A*Capacitance in Surface Defect^0.333)+Overcut Constant B to calculate the Overcut in mm per side, The Overcut produced per side formula is defined as the length of extra material removed due to side sparks in mm per side of electrode. Overcut in mm per side is denoted by O symbol.
