Ultimate tensile strength of work piece material Solution

STEP 0: Pre-Calculation Summary
Formula Used
Ultimate Tensile Strength = (6.25*10^6*Sparking time*(Mean current setting^(3/2)))/Volume of crater
Sut = (6.25*10^6*τs*(Im^(3/2)))/V
This formula uses 3 Variables
Variables Used
Sparking time - Sparking time is defined as the time for which a spark is sustained. (Measured in Second)
Mean current setting - Mean current setting is the current set to mean current value during unconventional machining of EDM. (Measured in Ampere)
Volume of crater - Volume of crater is defined as the Volume of crater made by an electric spark during EDM. (Measured in Square Millimeter)
STEP 1: Convert Input(s) to Base Unit
Sparking time: 10 Second --> 10 Second No Conversion Required
Mean current setting: 1 Ampere --> 1 Ampere No Conversion Required
Volume of crater: 100 Square Millimeter --> 0.0001 Square Meter (Check conversion here)
STEP 2: Evaluate Formula
Substituting Input Values in Formula
Sut = (6.25*10^6*τs*(Im^(3/2)))/V --> (6.25*10^6*10*(1^(3/2)))/0.0001
Evaluating ... ...
Sut = 625000000000
STEP 3: Convert Result to Output's Unit
625000000000 Pascal -->625000 Megapascal (Check conversion here)
FINAL ANSWER
625000 Megapascal <-- Ultimate Tensile Strength
(Calculation completed in 00.000 seconds)

Ultimate tensile strength of work piece material Formula

Ultimate Tensile Strength = (6.25*10^6*Sparking time*(Mean current setting^(3/2)))/Volume of crater
Sut = (6.25*10^6*τs*(Im^(3/2)))/V

What factors affects surface finish during EDM ?

The amount of material removed and the surface finish produced is dependent upon the current in the spark. The material removed by the spark can be assumed to be a crater. The amount removed therefore will depend upon the crater depth, which is directly proportional to the current. Thus as the material removed increases and at the same time the surface finish also decreases. However, decreasing the current in the spark, but increasing its frequency will improve the surface finish in view of the small crater size, but at the same time the material removal rate can be maintained by increasing the frequency.

How to Calculate Ultimate tensile strength of work piece material?

Ultimate tensile strength of work piece material calculator uses Ultimate Tensile Strength = (6.25*10^6*Sparking time*(Mean current setting^(3/2)))/Volume of crater to calculate the Ultimate Tensile Strength, The Ultimate tensile strength of work piece material formula is defined as the maximum stress that a material can withstand before failure.
